Rohan graduated from QUT in 2013 and was awarded the Optometrists Association Australia (QLD/NT Division) award for clinical excellence and the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care award for excellence in the contact lens studies. His first few years practising optometry were in Perth, where he developed special interests in the management of myopia (short-sightedness) development and progression, children's vision, and management of eye disease.
Rohan returned to Brisbane in 2017 to undertake a full-time PhD at QUT which he completed in 2020. His thesis examined the changes that occur in children's eyes when they focus at near distances and the relationship these changes have with myopia development and progression. He has published several peer-reviewed journal articles in this area, and is continuing to pursue these research interests.
Rohan has also previously served on the Optometry Queensland/Northern Territory Board, with one term as Vice President.
