Darcie Beckmann

Darcie was born and raised in Mackay before moving to Brisbane for 6 years to attend QUT to complete her Bachelor of Vision/Master's Degree in Optometry. Her goal during her studies was always to return to a rural or regional Queensland community to provide outstanding eye care. Previously to joining our Practice, she visited the local area and enjoyed camping at Fairbairn and Theresa Creek Dam. She is hoping to continue camping and exploring the local region and is keen to try her hand at fossicking and archery. Darcie's passion is helping others, whether in our practice or further afield. She participates and supports events held by her church’s not-for-profit charity, the UAVF, who raise funds to support projects such as fuel cards for farmers, domestic violence care packs and support for flood, fire and drought victims. She and her family participate in the Soldier on March on Challenge, where during March, participants walk in remembrance, 96 kms, which is the distance of the Kokoda Trail. The challenge raises money to provide services to decrease the suicide rate within our Australian war veteran ranks. Darcie and her family support this charity to give back to those who gave everything for us. In holding with her chosen profession of optometry she has decided to participate in the Fred Hollows "Fred's Big Run" which provides eye care to the less fortunate throughout the world. Darcie enjoys attending local trivia nights and is looking forward to being an active member of the Emerald community.
